Today I had the privilege to work from home. I had to stay at home to wait for a package from UPS that I needed to sign for. The day also included letting my dog out about a billion times because she apparently was bored and wanted my attention since I am not usually there during the day.
For lunch, I decided to make a “real” lunch. Usually, my lunch consists of either something frozen or leftovers from previous dinners. Maybe some fresh fruit on occasion. I’m trying to fix this. So today, since I was at home and had access to cooking equipment and ingredients, I decided that I would make something.
I chose something that I have been wanting to make for a long time. The original post is from February! I chose the Grilled Banana Sandwich from Healthy Tipping Point. Caitlin, the blogger behind HTP is such a wonderful, inspiring woman. She not only runs HTP, but she also is the editor for Operation Beautiful. Have you heard of Operation Beautiful? It is a grassroots movement that Caitlin started to spread the message to love ourselves, and that we are ALL beautiful! The movement has been such a success that there is an OB book coming out in August, and she is even going to be promoting it on the Today Show! She is such an inspiring woman.
Back to the sandwich.
This sandwich is no harder to make than making French toast. It was really quick and easy. The brown sugar and cinnamon definitely added sweeter taste, and I like how they were sprinkled on during the process instead of just mixing it all together with the eggs before dredging the bread. Yes, I did use white bread instead of wheat bread because that is what I happened to have.
Overall I liked it. Although, I’m not sure about the texture of the bananas. The first couple tasted alright, but I seemed to like them less the more I ate. I would definitely like to try the strawberry version that Caitlin made and see if that fixes the texture issue for me.
Ease: A, not hard at all. If you can make French toast, you can make this sandwich.
Taste: B, it was only the texture of the bananas that I had a problem with, the bread was delicious. I’m hoping that when I try the strawberry version, it will be an A!
Will I make it again? I’m not sure. I’m hoping I will like the strawberry version better……or maybe I’ll make one with strawberries AND bananas!
Does texture affect your food choices?
I would say texture and smell are my biggest deterrents when it comes to food.

Thank you for introducing me to Operation Beautiful. What a great idea. Good luck on your strawberry sand. 🙂 I am a newbie food blogger and just posted a recipe for stuffed zucchini and a beet salad. Both were good on texture and flavor. I am not a health nut but am also making a good college try at healthier living. Hope you stop by my blog…I love to have new visitors!
Thanks! I’m pretty new at the food blogging thing as well. Stuffed zucchini is something that I’ve always wanted to try, I’ll stop by and check it out!
Ooooh, the new look and everything is quite nice, ma’am! 😀
