Quick Italian Tuna and Olive Pasta

This week’s Thinkfood recipe comes from Susan at Foodblogga.  You can find the recipe here. (Unfortunately the recipe page is no longer available)

Number fourteen in the Thinkfood series was an interesting one.  None of the ingredients were extreme, but none of them I was particularly excited for.  Well, except for the pasta – but that doesn’t really count.

I kind of psyched myself up for this dish.  Since there was nothing in it that I had already judged as horrible I held on to hope that it might be something I would like.

Here is the final product:

Italian Tuna Olive Pasta

Did I like it?

Meh.

Not so much.  If I had to eat it, I would, but it would definitely not be my first choice.  I actually didn’t really mind the tuna, or the beans – although I didn’t love them either.  However, the olives were not something that I would probably eat again.  I can’t even really describe the taste, but it was just something that I don’t like.

I still definitely prefer this Olive:

Olive🙂

Ease: A, boiling the water and making the noodles is probably the most difficult thing.  Really not too bad.
Taste: B-, I would eat it if I had to, but it is definitely not my favorite.

Would I make it again? Probably not, unless I was making it for someone else to eat.

Fun Fact: Olive is not, in fact, named after the food (although it does seem to make sense that she is a “black olive.”)  No, she is not named after the adorable Abigail Breslin character in Little Miss Sunshine either.

She is actually named after Olive the Other Reindeer…..anyone know what I’m talking about?  Since I got her as a Christmas gift, she is appropriately named after one of my favorite Christmas cartoons…..from 1999… starring Drew Barrymore.  Still don’t know what I’m talking about?

Here she is:

I am a huge fan of Christmas cartoons and this is definitely one of my favorites!!  Some other classics are A Charlie Brown Christmas, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, and the classic Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

I guess I should be done with the Christmas talk now so that I don’t jinx it and have it snow in September….
