A few months have passed since I’ve joined the world of blogging. There are some recipes that I have made and LOVED, and others not so much. However, through reading other blogs, and chatting with blends (blog friends) on Twitter, I always find new recipes and products to try. My list is miles long at this point. This is just one of the many reasons why I love this blogging community!
One product that seems to be a staple on many healthy living blogs is Greek Yogurt. I have never been a huge fan of regular yogurt, but I thought I would give Greek Yogurt a try. I decided to do this for a few reasons:
1) This blog is about trying new foods. I’ve already tried many new foods that a WAY more scary to me than Greek yogurt. I think I can handle it.
2) Greek Yogurt has all kinds of great health benefits. The specifics of these benefits vary by brand, but there are a few things they all have in common: lots of protein and low amounts of sugar and sodium. As someone who eats very little meat, I’m always looking to add protein into my diet.
3) I don’t really know much about Greek Yogurt. I know that there is a lot of hype around it right now, but is it really all that it has been hyped up to be?
4) I’ve tried a couple of brands and flavors of Greek Yogurt off and on, but nothing that I have really been in love with. I’m hoping that if I try all different brands I will find one that I love and will then make it a part of my eating routine.
So, I have decided to try a few different brands of Greek Yogurt and review them on the blog. Full Disclosure: I am buying all of my sample yogurts with my own money, and I am not being paid to review them. (But if there are any companies that make Greek Yogurt out there that would like to donate to my cause, feel free to contact me 🙂 )
Here are the brands that are currently on my list:
Stonyfield Oikos
Chobani
Fage
Dannon Greek Yogurt
Yoplait Greek Yogurt
To keep it fair, I am going to buy all of them in the “plain” flavor to start with so that I don’t let the flavors get in the way of the yogurt. I will, however be adding things into my yogurt – most likely fruit and possibly granola of some kind. I will try to keep these similar throughout the trials as well so that I am judging the yogurt not the add ins.
And with that, I’m off to go pick out my first Greek Yogurt trial for lunch!
Am I missing your favorite brand? Let me know!
What do you like to add to your Greek Yogurt?
