Top Ten Tuesday: Christmas Songs – 90’s – Today

For the final installment of the Top Ten Christmas Songs series: the 90’s to today!  This was by far the hardest list to put in order.  I love all of these songs.  It should also be noted that you could pretty much add the whole CD of each of these songs to the list – it was hard to narrow it down to 10.  Clearly the 90’s was the peak of good, new Christmas music.

10) Melissa Etheridge – Christmas in America

I love Christmas songs that are more than just fa la la and deck the halls.  If this song didn’t mention Christmas subjects, it could easily be a everyday song.

9) Faith Hill – Where Are You Christmas?

Even though I did not love the new Grinch movie, I do love this song.  Faith Hill has a great voice for Christmas music.

8 ) NSync – Love Is In Our Heart On Christmas Day

How can you talk about the 90’s without mentioning a boy band? Love this song.

7) Sarah McLachlan and Ingrid Michaelson – Winter Song

This is basically the quintessential sappy Christmas song.  But I still love it. 🙂

6) Mariah Carey – All I Want for Christmas Is You

If you are a fan of Christmas music and you don’t own this CD, there is something wrong.  It is probably the best single artist Christmas CD that you can own.  Also, Mariah basically represents 90’s music. (for me at least)

5) Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds – Christmas Song

Another thing I love is when artists sing Christmas songs that could be their own.  This song is SO DMB.

4) Jack Johnson – Someday at Christmas

Loooove this song.

3) Smashing Pumpkins – Christmas Time

2) Josh Groban – Believe

This is another song that could easily be an everyday song except for the Christmasy theme.  Love it.

Believe in what you feel inside, and give your dreams the wings to fly!

1) Blues Traveler – Christmas

There’s like this feeling that you carry
As if from every Christmas past
It’s as if each year it grows
It’s like you feel it in your toes
And on and on your carol goes
Harvesting love among your woes

That wraps up my Top Ten Christmas songs through the decades! Did I miss your favorite?  Let me know!  I’m always looking for new (and new to me) Christmas music!

One last note: 3 of the 10 songs from this list came from this CD:
