Chocolate Chunk Cookies

It should come as no surprise to you that chocolate chip cookies are one of my favorite desserts ever.  When Kristina posted these cookies over on SpaBettie, I knew I had to make them.  You can find the recipe here.

Please note: she also uses this recipe to make golden Oreo stuffed cookies (hence the name of her post)  I did not make the Oreo stuffed version.  I did that once already. (here) Although, these do look like a delicious take on the cookie stuffed cookie idea.

The only thing I changed about the recipe was instead of chopping up a bar of dark chocolate, I used semi-sweet chocolate chips.  I am not much of a dark chocolate person to begin with – and I already had the semi-sweet chips on hand.

These cookies turned out really delicious!  In fact, they might be the only cookies that I thought got BETTER as they cooled.  Usually I am one for softer cookies, and once they harden they aren’t as good. These didn’t really get harder once they cooled – making them even better!

Ease: A, a pretty basic cookie recipe.

Taste: A+, really good!  Definitely some of my favorite cookies that I’ve made in a while!

Would I make them again? I think so.  I’d like to make them with mint chips instead of the semi-sweet –  I think that would be delicious as well!

Happy Friday!

So many fun things going on in Madison this weekend that I may or may not find time in between yoga and house/yard cleaning to do:

Saturday April 16 – Customer Appreciation Day at The Vinery!  If you aren’t familiar, The Vinery is a glass studio off of Verona Rd in Madison.  They are having lots of demos, door prizes and food!  The best part?  Its FREE!

Saturday April 16 – Isthmus Green Day at the Monona Terrace!  I haven’t been to this before, but it looks interesting.  There are supposed to be over 100 exhibitors and a bunch of different speakers.  Bring a donation for Goodwill and get in for FREE!

Saturday April 16 –  Hand Stamping Metal Jewelry Workshop at Glitter Workshop from 10-1! Apparently there is also a bake sale there that day too!  The metal stamping workshop does cost $8-9 but you get an awesome handmade piece of jewelry to take home with you!

Saturday April 16 – The first summer DANE COUNTY FARMERS MARKET on the square!  It runs from 6am – 2pm

Sunday April 17 – Capital Brewery in Middleton is celebrating 25 years with an open house from 1-5!

Anyone going to any of these fun events??
Are there other fun events going on that I am missing??
How are you spending your weekend?

  1. Aaaaah, these look amazing. Though I should now probably stop posting about and reading about cookies and actually find some food to eat, as I am not about to attack the computer screen.

  2. ooooh, YAY, I am thrilled you like them and that they received an A+ 🙂

  3. AWESOME. I too much prefer my cookies soft… might need to try these out! 🙂

Sadly, most of my weekend will be spent doing schoolwork since I was sick earlier this week. 🙁 ugh.

  4. i wish i wasn’t moving this weekend – there is SO much going on! bummer…. i hope you have fun & give an update on which things you do!!

    • I will definitely give an update! I’m hoping that this gross weather doesn’t get in my way of doing things. Good luck with the move!!

  5. Tomorrow at Hilldale Mall, in the old Oriental Specialties space, Anaala Salon is holding a photo shoot fundraiser. It’s a fundraiser for Earth Month, for the Alliance for the Great Lakes. There will be a photo shoot with stylists from Anaala working on models, doing hair and makeup and a photographer taking pictures. We would love to have people come and check it out. Come see how a photo shoot goes, behind the scenes! Also there will be coffee and snacks for a small donation. Our photographer is also bringing a helper to take pictures and print them out, so if kids stop in they can get a picture (5×7 I believe) for a small donation. Hilldale Mall also has an Easter Bunny there tomorrow! He’s free, so bring your own camera. 🙂 We’d love to see people there! Come check it out!
