Full Disclosure: I paid for this meal with my own money and I was in no way reimbursed for this blog post. The opinions are completely my own.
The first night, the show that we were going to was at the Chicago Theater. Luckily, there is not a lack or restaurants in Chicago’s Theater District. We chose State and Lake because it was close to the theater and had good reviews almost everywhere we looked.
The menu is not huge, but definitely has a brew pub kind of feel. Burgers, sandwiches, steaks and fish are the majority of the menu.
The husband had the BBQ Bacon Burger. It was huge!
I had the charred top sirloin with green beans and fingerling potatoes. The steak was pretty good, but again it was not the cut that I was used to so I had to cut around a fair amount of fat. The potatoes were buttery and amazing. I love potatoes, especially fingerlings.
Overall the food was good, but not awesome overall. Also, considering the restaurant was small, and there was at least two other waitstaff I felt like the service was a little bit lackluster.
Taste: B, not bad, but not the best.
Cost: C+, the hamburger was not badly priced, but my steak was $26 and I’m not sure if it was worth that much.
Would I go there again? I’m not sure. I don’t think I would go there for steak – there are definitely better places in Chicago for that. However, the food was decent enough and it was about 2 minutes from the Chicago Theater, so it would probably still be a good place to go before a show.
