The in-laws always have a big get together every year for the 4th of July. Although there is always a huge spread of food at these get togethers, there is generally not such a huge selection in the dessert department. Luckily, I like to bake, so I decided to make dessert again this year. (Last year I brought Red White and Blue Star Cookies and they were a huge hit!) I actually made 3 different desserts – I decided to be an overachiever I guess, because I also brought potato salad. This is dessert number one: Cheesecake.
I was really kind of nervous about making this. Even though I have heard “it’s a lot easier to make than you think” it still was intimidating. Plus, I wouldn’t really know how it turned out until I was serving it because you can’t exactly just cut a slice out to try it like you could try a cookie and no one would ever know.
The recipe that I used is from Disney’s Family Fun website – you can find it here.
Turns out, it was really good! It tasted just like how cheesecake should taste, perfect texture and everything.
The recipe was not hard either! I didn’t use the blueberries that were supposed the be the “blue” part of this patriotic cake, and the strawberry jelly that I used didn’t turn of exactly how it should have, but it was still very good and people still loved it.
Ease: B+, it wasn’t very difficult but making the crust did take a bit of patience and time, as well as the fact that it does take quite a while to bake.
Taste: A+, I think this cheesecake tasted just as good as any other cheesecake that I’ve had – well, other than the fact that it was just plain cheesecake.
Would I make it again? Absolutely. Maybe next time I’ll get a little more creative with flavoring!
