Restaurant Review: Hard Rock Cafe Louisville

Full Disclosure:  I paid for this meal with my own money and I was in no way reimbursed for this blog post.  The opinions are completely my own.

Our last meal in Louisville was definitely a last minute decision.  We searched online for a bit before leaving the hotel room but then just ended up headed out and hoping for the best.  We didn’t plan on many of our choices being closed since it was Sunday!  The first place we we were hoping to go to ended up being a couple hour wait, so we headed down the road farther and ended up at the Hard Rock Cafe.  Yes, I realize this is a chain, but it isn’t one that we have in Madison so I was ok with going to it while we were out of town. Also, we were pretty sure they would be playing the Packer Game 🙂

We got there and were surprised to see that the place was pretty empty – most Hard Rock Cafe’s that I’ve been to in the past have almost always been packed full.  Maybe people really don’t go out on Sundays in the south and that is why so many places are closed!  (Either that or clearly this isn’t a tourist town and everyone else knows that most places aren’t open on Sundays.)

I started my meal with a beverage that I don’t remember the name of….but it was pretty much like a Piña Colada with raspberry pureé.  It was pretty good, but I wasn’t expecting it to be as creamy as it was.

For my meal, I started with a salad – which was actually a pretty decent salad for a side salad.  There were dried cranberries, bacon, and the rest of the normal salad toppings like croutons and cheese.

For my entree, I had a chicken sandwich and fries – pretty much what I always order at chains/bars.  The sandwich was actually pretty good.  The bun was super squishy – but not so much that it just got soggy when I put the sandwich together.  The fries were pretty standard chain restaurant fries, but definitely not bad.

Even though the place was pretty much empty, it still had a rockin vibe.  The waitstaff were very friendly and accommodating.  The Packers were playing the Bears and our waiter was a Bears fan but still did a great job and updated us frequently with scores…..even when the Pack were dominating the Bears 🙂

Taste: B+, better than your average chain restaurant.
Cost: B, I don’t remember exactly how much it cost, but I don’t remember it being overly expensive, but the food wasn’t overly amazing either.

Would I go there again? I don’t think so.  Maybe if we end up being in the same Sunday situation again, but hopefully there is somewhere better, and local, that we can go to next time.

  1. You got In a Kentucky paper?

  2. Yeah it’s weird. Sundays are really busy out in the area of town I live in but downtown? Not so much. Glad you had a decent experience 🙂
