Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Chocolate chip cookies are one of my absolute favorite kind of cookies.  Maybe it is because they remind me of being at my parents house where chocolate chip cookies are made pretty much weekly, or maybe it is because they are a great mix of chocolate and sugar without being overly sweet and rich.

These particular cookies are from How Sweet It Is.  If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know that when I make thing from Jessica’s blog, it is pretty much certain that they will turn out delicious.  These cookies are no exception.  You can find the recipe here.

I’m not a huge fan of adding oatmeal to cookies.  A lot of the time I don’t like the texture that it gives them – to grainy, not soft and chewy.  However, sometimes the right recipe can change my mind.  The oatmeal added to these cookies did not make they super grainy tasting, it just added a little bit of bulk to the cookie while still keeping pretty much the same soft texture.

I really liked the addition of cinnamon to these cookies.  It is just enough to give it a little extra flavor, but not too much where it doesn’t taste like a classic chocolate chip cookie anymore.  YUM!

Ease: A, no difficult than any other normal cookie recipe.  You do have to refrigerate the dough before baking, but only 30 minutes, so you can still make the dough and eat them in the same night….even if you started making them at 8pm… 🙂
Taste: A, definitely solid chocolate chip cookies.  The cinnamon adds a little bit of a fresh twist on a classic favorite.

Would I make them again?  Yeah I think so.  Everyone is sure to like them, but they are a little more interesting than the classic recipe on the chocolate chip bag.
