Today I turn 28 years old. Not any huge milestone, just another year. But it was a great year – and hopefully the year ahead will be even better! I wish I could bake a big cake and share it with all of you, but unfortunately, cakes don’t ship very well, and I have no time to bake one. Instead, I thought I’d share with you 28 things that I am grateful to have experienced in my life so far. (in no particular order)
1) Growing up/living in the city of Madison, WI. I seriously love this place and everything it has to offer.
2) Meeting/Marrying my wonderful husband. I couldn’t ask for a better person who puts up with my crazy picture taking, and well, just general ridiculousness sometimes.
3) My 2 wonderful pets (Olive and Sasha)
4) The fact that the husband and I have jobs that we enjoy, and the wonderful benefits that come along with those jobs.
5) Having a phone with internet. Seriously, I don’t know what I would do without it now that I have it.
6) My wonderful friends – people I’ve been friends with for years, people I’ve just met recently through the blog, even people that I haven’t even met in person yet. So thankful for all of you.
7) Being able to cook and enjoy food – SO thankful that I don’t have to deal with food allergies or intolerance…..or at least none that I know of yet.
8. ) This blog, and the blog community that comes with it. Now that I’ve been blogging for over a year, I feel like I’m in the groove and loving it. A few years ago I never would have imagined I would even be interested in something like blogging, or the Healthy Living Summit. Although the blog may change along the way, I can’t imagine not writing in the future.
9) My family who has supported me though many changes in life. Those in Madison, and those farther away, some of which even read this blog! 🙂
10) Being able to knit. It makes me happy to knit, sip coffee, and watch football on weekends. So relaxing.
11) Having two AWESOME Wisconsin football teams this year! Not that I wouldn’t still watch if they didn’t win practically every game, but the winning makes watching the games so much sweeter. *edited to add: Also an awesome Baseball Team!!
12) A yoga studio near my house with fantastic instructors and community. Also, being able to afford to go to yoga classes multiple times a week.
13) Having somewhere to live. Even though it may not be my dream home, it keeps me warm, dry, and safe.
14) Coffee. Seriously don’t know what I would do without caffeine some days.
15) Twitter. Yes, some might call it a waste of time, but it is also a fantastic way to communicate with friends all over the world. You never know when someone on Twitter might have just what you need right at that moment.
16) Email chains with friends that are far away. <3
17) Living somewhere that there are actually 4 seasons. I don’t know what I would do if Christmas was 80* and sunny. It was weird enough apple picking this fall when it was 80* Sorry, but I like my snow with my Christmas tree. Ya hear that weather? Any day now….
18) My co-workers. I’m very lucky to call them friends, and work with some of the best people that I know.
19) Anyone who is reading this right now. That’s right, I’m thankful for YOU! Yes, YOU!
20) That I am able to give things to others. Whether it is volunteering my time, making things for them, or buying things for them. I’m thankful that I can share what I love and am able to do.
21) Being able to travel many times a year, for work and for pleasure. Hopefully the years to come involve more traveling – maybe even outside of the US! (Getting a passport is on my 101 in 1001 list….)
22) Friends who sit and listen to me ramble about whatever thing is annoying me – even if they have no idea what I am talking about. Sometimes that is the best kind of person to listen.
23) Baby animals. All kinds. How can you look at a baby animal and not smile?
24) Friendly Baristas in the morning. I can’t even imagine being super busy at work AND knowing that all of these people are waiting for you to give them their energy source for the day. That takes a special person to smile through bunches of grumpy people.
25) Friends who love pugs as much as you do so you don’t seem so crazy when you take and show off photos of your goofy dog all of the time.
26) Christmas music. I wish it was kosher to listen to it all year round. Although, it isn’t quite the same if there isn’t snow on the ground and a chill in the air.
27) Celebration. Birthdays, holidays, weddings, etc. It feels good to have something to celebrate
28) The years to come. Hopefully they will only get more awesome and bring even more new and exciting things.
What are YOU thankful for today??

this post makes me incrediably happy. HAVE A WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY!! My 28th year has been my BEST YEAR YET and I know it will be for you as well 🙂
Happy birthday! Hope it’s a great day! (Olive is so cute.)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I hope we end up living back in Madison someday (especially if you are still there!)
And ditto on email chains. 😉
PS: You forgot the awesome baseball team this year, too!
Happy birthday Kelly!! I hope 28 is a great year for you! 🙂
happy birthday, kelly!!! this is such a great list. it made me happy just to read it!
I’m a little hurt that you think Christmas music isn’t the same without snow on the ground and a chill in the air.
So Texans just shouldn’t listen to Christmas music? What about the Southern hemisphere?
😀
Happy birthday again!!
I think I’m just so used to associating Christmas with snow, that one needs the other. If I lived in the south, I’m sure I would get over it.
Also, I would be more than happy to listen to Christmas music year round if that was socially acceptable. 🙂
