Restaurant Review: Jacs

Full Disclosure:  I paid for this meal with my own money and I was in no way reimbursed for this blog post.  The opinions are completely my own.

Last week was my birthday.  Birthdays call for delicious meals.  🙂  Last weekend my parents took me out to I delicious dinner, that I know you all are excited to hear about 🙂

I think I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again – there are tons of restaurants in Madison, but sometimes it is overwhelming to choose.  Luckily, my Dad suggested somewhere that sounded delicious – Jac’s.  I had never heard of Jac’s before, but apparently my parents had been there a few times and loved it, so we all decided it would be a good choice.

Jacs has a wide variety on their menu and I actually had a hard time choosing what to have for dinner! After a few minutes of trying to decide, we chose to get an order of Frites.  This helped to make our entree decisions.

I started with a glass of Pinot Noir, which was delicious (and followed by another glass with my meal 🙂 )

Then came the Frites.  They were SO good.  Probably some of the best french fries that I’ve ever had.  Thick, fried (maybe twice?) and fresh but not greasy.  YUM!

For my entree, I had the Margarita Flatbread – Fresh mozzarella, crushed tomatoes, garlic, and fresh basil.  It was very good.  The crust was thin and crispy and the proportions of cheese to tomato to basil on the pizza was perfect.  Also, it was quite large, definitely enough for two servings.

The husband had the Mac N Cheese – Black forest ham, applewood smoked bacon, swiss, cheddar, parmesan bread crumb, mixed green salad.  He said it was very good as well.

Other meals at our table included the Jac’s Burger (local grass-fed beef).

And the Rissoto – Butternut squash, red onion, kale, parmesan, baguette.

Everyone very much enjoyed their meals.  The restaurant is quite small, but cozy.  The waitstaff were very friendly and attentive.  Overall it was a good choice for a Birthday meal! Oh, and they do have a bar with TV’s so we got to watch the end of the Packers vs Giants game while we were waiting for our food!

I should also mention that Jac’s is a partner with Buy Fresh, Buy Local.  This means that many of the menu options are made with local, farm fresh ingredients!

Taste: A+, everything was delicious!!
Cost: A, my flatbread was $13.  I’d say that is pretty reasonable for two servings worth of delicious pizza.

Would I go there again? Absolutely.  And if you are in the Madison area, you should too!

Oh, and if you somehow have room for dessert after your delicious meal at Jac’s, you should walk down the road to Bluephies for a cookie dough egg roll for dessert! Unfortunately, we were plenty full from dinner so we didn’t get dessert afterwards 🙁
