I originally saw this little list idea on Heather’s blog (who originally found it on Nichole’s blog) and then I saw Kayla do it too. Since Christmas IS one of my absolute favorite times of the year, I thought I’d join in the fun and share MY answers with you! So, here it goes.
Tradition: There are many Christmas traditions that I love, the music, the giving, the jingle bells, etc. One that I am particularly fond of is baking things. Cookies, brownies, Oreo Balls, etc. When I was younger, my family acutally used to bake and give Cinnamon rolls to neighbors and relatives. I actually just wrote about this tradition for a guest post on It All Changes! You should go check out the post here to learn more about my cinnamon roll traditions!
Movie: Oh, this one is tough! I’m going to have to go with Love Actually.
Hymn: As for a traditional Christmas hymn, I’d have to say Angels We Have Heard on High. I’m pretty sure this was the first Christmas hymn that I memorized multiple verses for when I was a kid. My all-time favorite non-traditional Christmas song is Little Drummer Boy/Peace On Earth which was first made famous by Bing Crosby and David Bowie but has been covered many times since. The most recent addition that I just found is this one from Jason Segel and Jack Black.
Last year I wrote a lot more about my favorite Christmas songs and did top ten posts from different time frames – the classics, 70’s and 80’s, 90’s – today. Maybe I will do another one this year for brand new songs! (or songs like the Jason Segel one that I somehow missed last year!)
Reindeer: Olive, the other Reindeer. Never heard of her? See clip below. 🙂
Naughty or Nice: I’d like to think I’m pretty nice.
Multi-Color Lights or Clear: Color – preferably the chunky kind that look straight out of the 70’s.
Smell: Christmas trees, fireplaces, and snow. Yes, just like how it can smell like rain, it can also smell like snow.
Seasonal Treat: Candy Canes!
Christmas Picture: This one was definitely hard, as I take lots and lots of photos during the holidays, but I really like this one from last year of one of the ornaments I received from her handmade ornament exchange.
Sight: Christmas lights. On houses, trees, buildings, etc. I love them.
Best Gift: Although there have been some close seconds, probably hands down Olive wins. Did you know that my husband got her for me for Christmas? He is pretty much the best gift giver ever.
(Yes, I realize that this photo is crazy blurry, but she is so stinkin tiny I cannot believe it. This was taken literally minutes after I got her. <3 )
Worst Gift: I’m not sure I’ve gotten a bad gift….I feel like I’m pretty easy to buy for – although I know others will disagree with me on that.
Special Memory: Last year we went to Disney World for our Honeymoon, and got to go to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party since we were down there during the holiday season. As a huge fan of Disney AND Christmas, it was a ton of fun and definitely something I won’t forget anytime soon.
Dislikes: My dislike may be skewed since I work in retail, but I definitely dislike cranky people that aren’t in the holiday spirit. No, I don’t expect you to be 100% smiley all the time, but it drives me crazy when people are obviously just super stressed out and rude a lot of the time. I get that you are frustrated that you can’t find what you are looking for, but don’t take it out on me when I am doing the best I can to help you. That being said there are people who are definitely overly nice during the holidays as well, and luckily those people tend to override most of the grumps.

Love Actually is pretty much my favorite movie, but though it takes place around the holiday, I don’t consider it a Christmas/holiday movie.
Thanks for the song and video – I’d never heard that before! Either version!
and awww! Olive for Christmas! Yes, best gift for sure! 🙂
jealous of the disney memories, but I think you already knew that.
and I hear ya on the retail front. ugh, people.
Its true, Love Actually is not really a Holiday movie….but there are SO many other holiday movies **ahemCharlieBrownahem** that I love, so I decided to go our of the box a little bit to make the decision a little easier. 🙂
