Random Recipes

Sometimes, I get behind on posting recipes that I make.  The ones that I blog about first are generally the best ones – because really, I’m sure you’d all rather hear about something that was delicious rather than something that was not so good, I know I’d much rather write about the delicious ones!  Often when I make a bunch of new recipes in a week, there are at least a few that are just kind of  “meh.”  Not great, but not bad either.  These are basically recipes that I’m glad I made, and they satisfied whatever craving I had, but I’d probably not ever make again – at least not the exact recipe.  Instead of writing a whole post about each recipe, I thought I’d just do a mini-review of each one and throw them together in one post.

Here are a couple of those recipes.

Baked Tortellini

Baked Tortellini

This one I found on Pinterest – you can find it here.  This one didn’t taste all that bad, but what I didn’t realize before making it is that the instructions are for some kind of specialty oven.  So, I kind of just turned the oven on to a temperature that I thought would be good (350) and put it in there to bake for….a while….about 25 minutes?  It worked out allright, but honestly it wasn’t really any better than just tortellini with alfredo sauce normally.

Roasted Garlic Mac and Cheese

Roasted Garlic Mac N Cheese

Yes, this is another Pinterest find.  You can find the recipe here.  This one was not bad, just not anything really spectacular.  This was my first time roasted whole heads of garlic, and although it took longer than I thought it would to bake them, I do LOVE garlic.  For being called “Roasted Garlic” Mac and Cheese though, I didn’t think this recipe had a very strong garlic flavor, if I made it again I think I would add more roasted and garlic powder.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

My weekend was spent decluttering, grocery shopping at Costco and Trader Joe’s.  I found some great things when I went to TJ’s while Julie was in town so I had to go back and restock.  Oh, and at Costco I found a variety pack of 24 Clif Kids Twisted Fruit Ropes!  I love those things, so I was so excited to see them there! I also went there looking for the super awesome pillows that Courtney was raving about on Twitter last weekend, but I had no luck 🙁

Hope you all have a great week, friends!!

  1. I love this! I love hearing about your successful recipes, so hearing about the unsuccessful are good too.

I’m actually thinking about copying your recipe review format for some recipes I try! Hope you don’t mind 🙂

    • I’d prefer it if you don’t copy my review format exactly, but it does kind of cover everything that I’d want to know if I was reading a recipe review, (ease, taste, etc.) so I understand if you want to base however you do yours on the same concepts I use in mine. 🙂

      • I’m sorry – I did not mean copy DIRECTLY from your posts. I more meant, steal the inspiration behind your posts, link to you, and then review recipes that I’m making. I should have specified that! Is that okay?

I really want to do this because one of my 26 in 26 goals is to try one recipe from each of my cookbooks. SO I want to go over THOSE recipes and say what I thought of them. I won’t be doing it for every recipe I make.
