Grilled Cheese Rolls

It seems, these days, that I find many many recipes via Pinterest.  Sometimes they are good, sometimes not so much.  Either way, I’m happy to have another source to search for recipes when I’m stuck in a cooking rut.  This particular recipe caught my eye immediately, and I couldn’t wait to make it.  It seemed easy enough and really how can you go wrong with carbs and cheese?  You can find the recipe here.

After just looking at the photos, these instructions to make these were different than I imagined.  But in a good way – they were much easier than how I would have thought!  Someday I will learn to read the entire instructions and directions before deciding to make a recipe. 🙂

Grilled Cheese Rolls

These were definitely a fun twist on grilled cheese, and it still went well with the tomato soup that generally accompanies our grilled cheese.  We had three rolls in place of one grilled cheese sandwich….which seemed like it would be plenty, but after eating a couple of them the husband and I both realized that we could easily eat many more of them as a full meal – good thing we had the soup to accompany them!

They didn’t come together quite as easily as the instructions seemed – we had a bit of trouble with the the rolls unrolling while they were cooking in the skillet.  It was easy to fix though, we just pinned them together with a toothpick while they were cooking and the problem was solved.

Ease: A-, there is a bit of work that goes into them, but nothing too hard at all.
Taste: A+, I thought these were really good, and definitely a fun twist on a normal grilled cheese sandwich!

Would I make them again? Yes, I can definitely see these being made again in the future.  The recipe calls for American cheese (which is what we used this time) but I don’t see why you couldn’t use other varieties of sliced cheese instead.  Next time we will try other cheeses….it might just be tricky to make sure the melty cheese doesn’t run out of the roll.

  3. grilled cheese and tomato soup is one of my FAVORITE winter meals 🙂 these are so cool!
