Restaurant Review: Champions Sports Bar and Restaurant

Full Disclosure:  I paid for this meal with my own money and all of the opinions are completely my own.

For our first night in Louisville, Kentucky we decided to keep dinner low key.  The hotel that we were staying in happened to have a restaurant on site so we ended up there.  After a long day of travel, we just wanted a quick and convenient dinner.  The restaurant that we chose was Champions.

It seemed like a typical bar and grill type restaurant – lots of monitors broadcasting every live sporting event you could ever want to see.  It happened to be a Saturday when we were there, so that meant that college football was on! The Badgers had played earlier in the day (and won) but there were some other exciting games on as well.  Unlike a typical bar and grill restaurant, the space was actually very open and airy with tall ceilings and a very large windows.

I wasn’t in the mood for wine (and I always kind of feel weird order that at such a casual restaurant) so had a bottle of Woodchuck Hard Cider.

The menu wasn’t very large, but it still had a pretty good variety. I went with the Chicken Caesar Wrap, but I substituted ranch dressing instead of the caesar.  It was honestly better than expected.  It is pretty easy to wrap up chicken and lettuce and have it be plain and boring but this was more than that. It was warm, and the chicken was very flavorful.  The fries were better than average as well.  They weren’t anything fantastic, but they were seasoned well and didn’t taste like they had been frozen.

Overall the meal was good.  Not anything fancy or particularly special, but a good solid, easy and convenient, dinner.

Taste: A, Better than average, and better than I expected!
Cost: A-, my sandwich and fries cost $11.95 which isn’t bad but I feel like it was a little bit more than I would expect to pay.

Would I go there again?  If I was in the same situation again, where I wanted a quick and easy meal close to the hotel, I think I would.
