Happy Friday, friends!
Another week is gone in what feels like about 5 minutes. Last week, I was out of town for half of the week and this week I am making up work that piled up during that time out of town. Definitely a busy one.
Speaking of being out of town, I still have one more restaurant to review from my trip to Louisville. I’m hoping to have it up over the weekend, but we’ll see how things go. It was one of the most delicious salads I’ve ever had and it is taking me forever to write because I want to do it justice and not just throw some words together and be done. Stay tuned!
The other thing that I have coming for you next week is a recap of the Isthmus Food and Wine event that I went to last weekend. Many delicious things were eaten and drank and a good time was had. Full review to come!
Is this not the most giant gumball you’ve ever seen?
I didn’t eat any, the husband did. It was pretty entertaining to get for 50 cents out of a vending machine though!
This weekend we are going to a Halloween party that the Husband’s work is having. What are we dressing up as? Well, that is still kind of up in the air. Usually we try to find something that works as a couples costume, but this year for some reason we are having problems thinking of something. I have a couple of ideas for costumes for myself but it may be a last second decision as to what I will actually go as. Olive, on the other hand, has TWO new Halloween costumes this year. Dog costumes are so much easier to figure out. Especially when they go on sale weeks before Halloween! I’ll be sure to post photos of all of our costumes (hopefully) on a very special Halloween Wordless Wednesday next week.
Anyone else have problems figuring out what they should be for Halloween? I’m usually a big fan of making my own costume, but it has been so busy around here and making a costume just isn’t a priority. One of my problems (besides just general indecisiveness) is that most of the women’s pre-packaged costumes are “sexy” or “sassy” versions of whatever they are supposed to be. Apparently the costume world thinks that women need to be dressed in skimpy lingerie to be classified as sexy. That is definitely not what I believe, and I hope you don’t believe it either. Most everyone has a time in their life (often in college) when they wear one of these costumes for one reason or another, I did, and I definitely did not feel more sexy because of it. Also, I’d like to be able to wear my costume to work on Halloween too….and I’m not sure there are very many places of business that these “sexy” costumes would count as appropriate work attire….
Caitlin wrote a great post about this earlier in the week that I think hits the nail on the head about this issue. Instead of repeating everything that she said, go read her post (here) and weigh in on the issues with women’s Halloween costumes.
