Twosday {Healthy….ish}

Packages that I got in the mail recently:
1. Nuun tablets. (Full disclosure  The nice people at Nuun sent me some of the All Day Hydration and the Active Hydration to try, the opinions are completely my own.) I’ve seen Nuun on other blogs and people seemed to really like it so I thought I’d give iy a try! So far I’ve tried the Grapefruit Orange All Day hydration and I like it!  I don’t love the flavor, but its not bad. I do like that it is tablet form so I can take it with me easily and then just throw it in a water bottle.  It would be a great thing to bring with me to stay hydrated while traveling – much easier than searching for coconut water everywhere since it there isn’t a problem with getting it through airport security!
(I also am a huge dork and love the logo and package design!)
I’m excited to try the Active Hydration after I start running again.  Citrus sounds so refreshing!
2. My K-Cups from the K-Cup swap that Danielle hosted! Laura sent me a ton, and almost all of them were new to me! I’m not usually a fan of flavored coffee, but I just had the Green Mountain Coffee Golden French Toast and it was delicious – I can’t wait to try them all.

Races I am currently signed up to run in 2013:
1. Color Me Rad Madison – I am excited to try another color race! I’m happy it is in Madison, and I’m happy that Sarah signed up to run as well.
2. Happy 5K Virtual Race – I saw this race on a few different twitter feeds last weekend and had to sign up.  It is a virtual race, which means I just have to run 3.1 miles (5K) sometime between now and April 15.  I think I can handle that! (though it would probably help to actually start running again first!).  The race benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and there are also some great prizes that can be won.  Sounds great to me! You should sign up to run, walk, or heck even crawl this 5k with me: http://rcm.nu/12b0pUc

Races I am contemplating running in 2013:
1. Color Run Madison – is it ridiculous for me to run two different color races in the same year? Is it worth it to pay $35 for another 5K?  I can’t decide.
2. ????  I want to run something more than a 5K.  But less than a half marathon.   Maybe somewhere around a 10k.  In the Madison area. Anyone have suggestions?? There are so many to choose from it is kind of overwhelming.  Anyone have any favorites, or is anyone running any that I should join them in running?  Help!

Healthy Living Blogs Related things that I’m looking forward to this month:
1. HLB OZ meet-up!  Kim, who blogs at My Healthy Nest, is organizing a blogger/reader meet-up to see  the new movie OZ the Great and Powerful since the Healthy Living Blogs virtual book club book for February was ThThe Wonderful Wizard of Oz !  (You don’t have to have read the book to come to the meet-up, I didn’t!)  The exact date and time have not yet been determined, but make sure to check out Kim’s post for all of the info – I’m super excited about it!! Who will I see there??
2. HLBBookclub March: Julie and Julia– a book I actually own and have wanted to read for a very long time! I may actually read this one if I have the time….it would make a good book 5 for my 101 in 1001 goal…

Two delicious but not-so-healthy things that we made last weekend:
1. Donuts! Finally! I got a donut panfor my birthday back in December and finally put it to use.  I just used a mix, but it was pretty good for the first try!  I’m not sure they tasted exactly like donuts, more like chocolate muffins, but they were still tasty.
2. Chimichangas.  There was no recipe. We pretty much just diced chicken and cheese wrapped in a flour tortilla and then deep fried, topped with cream of chicken and a bit more cheese.  Served with chips and salsa.  It tasted almost identical to the chimichangas that I order at Pedro’s.  So good.

Hope everyone has a great week!!

  1. Yaaay for the meet-up!!!

As for races: are you doing Crazylegs?? That’s an 8K. Not 100% sure but there’s a good chance I’ll do it. I also want to do the Madison Twilight 10K in May–never done a night run, should be cool!

    • I did Crazylegs last year with Sarah, and while I did really enjoy the actual race course and distance, the weather was miserable! I have considered doing it again….we’ll see! Let me know if you decide to do it and maybe that will help me make up my mind 🙂

I would definitely consider the Twilight 10K too!

I probably should start actually running again before I really decided these things…

  2. the caribou day break is my FAVORITE K-CUP!!

i am glad to see you are reading Julie & Julie with #hlbbookclub!

and now I want a Chimichangas

    also – i forgot Pedro’s existed.
    and NOW I want Pasquals

    • Yes, I really liked the Caribou Daybreak, too!

Lets see if I actually manage to FINISH reading Julie an Julia….I should’ve brought it with me to work today…

  3. haha, i see kim mentioned crazylegs above. i was going to comment, “NOT CRAZYLEGS!”. i had a great time running it w/ you last year, but i have no desire to run it again after that awful weather. i think it took me two days to warm up.

i’m excited about julie & julia too! i read it a while ago, but i’m planning to re-read it.

    • Hahaha yes, I feel the same way! I wish it was later in the year or something because I really liked the course and the distance but seriously not ever in that weather again!
