Last week was the husband’s birthday. Since I pretty much never make any kind of peanut butter desserts for him during the rest of the year (because I don’t like peanut butter) I have a bit of a tradition of making in some kind of ridiculous peanut butter filled dessert for his birthday. As I was going through some recipes that I saved throughout the year as possibilities, I realized that MANY of my saved dessert recipes (peanut butter and otherwise) were from Shugary Sweets. I found Aimee’s blog fairly recently, and it has become a quick favorite, I have many recipes bookmarked to make in the near future!
The recipe that I chose to make this particular time was the Peanut Butter Bars. They are essentially a peanut butter cookie topped with peanut butter frosting and peanut butter candies. You can find the recipe here.
They weren’t very difficult to make, but there were a few more steps involved compared to to typical cookies or bars, but nothing too involved or time consuming.
The husband liked them! And actually, they looked pretty delicious if I forget the fact that they are filled with something that I don’t like. They also seemed like they could easily be transformed into something non-peanut butter by just changing a few things….somthing to think about for the future!
Ease: A-, not super difficult, but a few more steps than normal cookies.
Taste: ?. I can’t comment as I didn’t try them, but the husband seemed to really like them!
Would I make them again? I think so. Even if they weren’t these exact ones, maybe I could make them my own a bit and use something other than peanut butter as a base?

Hi Kelly,
So glad the hubby liked them! It’s like peanut butter overload 🙂 I do have some variations on the blog too (whopper bars and chubby hubby bars)! ENJOY.
