The weather forecast:
1) Today: Low 50°F, High 75°F. Mostly Sunny
2) Tomorrow: Low 58°F, High 75°F. Mostly Cloudy. Two wonderful Spring days are on tap, and it is a very welcome change after all of the cold and rain that we’ve had recently!
Features on my new car that I am very excited about:
1) Dual Zone heating/cooling. That means that the husband and I (or other passenger) will no longer argue about how hot or cold it is in the car! This was one of the “must-have” features for whatever car we got, and I am so excited to put it to use!
2) Heated seats. Obviously this won’t be needed in the Spring/Summer (fingers crossed though, this is Wisconsin!) but I am pretty excited to have some extra warmth once the weather turns chilly.
Outdoor exercise:
1) More running! I might be the queen of excuses when it comes to putting off runs, but now that I am signed up to run a 10k in January, I really need to take advantage of this warmth as long as I can because I won’t be able to just stop running during the winter like I have been doing.
2) Taking Olive for a walk. Pugs aren’t the most athletic dogs in general, but Olive is definitely on the couch potato end. It is hard to take her on walks and things outside because she overheads easily. I’m trying to take her on walks more often to build up her stamina a bit so that hopefully we can go on longer walks in the future. She LOVES being outside, but she doesn’t understand that if she gets really hot she should go inside, drink some water, and lay on the cool floor – not just continue to bask in the sunshine. Silly dog.
Signs of Spring:
1) Outdoor animals are out in full force! We have bunnies, squirrels, chipmunks, and various birds in our yard throughout the day. I love watching them on the various bird and animal feeders that we have. Olive and Miss Kitty love watching them, too!
2) Plants are sprouting! I probably don’t take the ideal amount of time working on my gardens, so every year I wonder what will actually come up. We don’t have any actual flowers yet, but we have plenty of day lilies, irises, and bleeding hearts on their way!
Warm weather beverages:
1) Iced Coffee! Warm weather means that I don’t have to drink warm beverages in an attempt not to freeze! Not to mention that getting a iced coffee is quite a bit less expensive than getting a latte every day, probably healthier for me, too!
2) Coconut Water! I do drink coconut water in the colder months, but not nearly as much as I do when it is warm. After I discovered that I liked it (last Spring) I found that it really does help me stay hydrated, which is a big help when I am more active and/or it is warm outside. I drink it after every time that I run, and I have recently been drinking it with breakfast in the morning, too! It is getting to the point where I have to buy more multiple times a week. I think it is time to start buying my beloved Vita Coco Coconut Water with Pineappleby the case! Thank goodness for Amazon Prime.
Warm weather clothing:
1) Maxi Dresses! I loooove maxi dresses, but it is really difficult for me to find ones that fit me. Since I am tall, I am pretty particular about the length of things – dresses, skirts, pants, etc. – and often times maxi dresses are not long enough for me. Recently I’ve found a couple that I like, one from Target (last year) and one from Old Navy (this one) that fit me really well.
2) Sandals! The only time that I wear socks in the summer is when I am running. I live in sandals, and it makes my feet so happy! I have hoarded collected quite a variety now, and the Birkenstock Women’s Gizeh Thong Sandal. I have them in two different colors, and I love them. They are super supportive but also look cute, and are fancy enough that I feel like I could wear them to a semi-fancy event. Obviously they aren’t formalwear or anything, but they are nice enough that I feel like I could wear them to a causal wedding, or other summer event and not look out of place.
