Cheribundi Review {AND GIVEAWAY!}

Full Disclosure: I was given an assorted case of Cheribundi Refresh to try and review free of charge.  They are also supplying the giveaway item free of charge.  I am not being compensated for this post and as always the opinions are completely my own.

Last year when I arrived at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge for the Healthy Living Summit, I was not only exhausted from having multiple travel delays and arriving much later than I anticipated, but I was also quite hungry and thirsty.  Luckily for me, I was greeted by some awesome blends (blog friends) who had just finished filling up the awesome swag bags.  When I got into the swag room, it was like they read my mind as we were looking at all of the goodies because they showed me to stash of extras was and told me to help myself if I wanted any of it.   Um, yes please! I grabbed a couple of snacks and then curiously checked out the bottles of Cheribundi Tart Cherry Juice.  I asked around to see if anyone had it before and there were mixed reviews, but the majority liked it so I decided to try it.  (Side note: Anyone else feel like they are more likely to try new things if they are super hungry/thirsty??) Good news: I really liked it! I had several bottles of Cheribundi throughout the weekend and couldn’t wait figure out where I could buy it back in Madison.  It took a bit of searching, but I did eventually find it at my local co-op. (In my searching I also found a couple of local(ish)  brands that use Door County cherries, but sadly they just are not as good!)

Summit Breakfast

Not only is the original Cheribundi Tart Cherry juice tasty, but it has some other great benefits as well.  Each small bottle of Cheribundi Tart Cherry juice has been pressed from 50 cherries, and only has a splash of apple juice added as a sweetener – it is all natural and not from concentrate. Tart cherries are filled with antioxidants that can help with all kinds of things including muscle recovery and getting better sleep. (source) I can say that personally I feel like I am less sore after running when I am consistently drinking tart cherry juice.  I honestly wasn’t so sure about the claims when I started drinking it, but I really do think it helps!

Fast forward to this Spring.

In February 2013, Cheribundi released a new line of drinks.  The Refresh line consists of tea and juice blends that are meant as an alternative to sodas and other artificially flavored drinks.  These are juice blends and therefore don’t have quite the cherry super powers as the original Cheribundi line, but they are still all natural and fruit juice based which is nutritionally better than many beverages out there that we might be drinking.

When I heard about the release of these new flavors I couldn’t wait to get my hands on them.  I knew it might take a bit of time for them to make it to this area of the country, so I tried t0 be patient as I checked my co-op each time I went to see if they were there yet.  Months went by and I still hadn’t found them.  I pretty much gave up, with hopes that I would get to try them at this year’s Healthy Living Summit.  Then one day I was on tweeting with others about how much I wanted to try them, and the nice people at Cheribundi chimed in and offered to send me some coupons.  However, once they found out where I lived they informed me that nowhere near me carried them so they could just send me a case of them to try and review on the blog. I was both kind of bummed but also super excited. That meant that I should stop searching around here to find them, but it also meant that I was going to get to try them after all! (If the Cheribundi Refresh line is not in your area yet, you can buy them on Amazon!(affiliate link))

So, was the Refresh line all that I had imagined it would be? Pretty much! My favorites right now are the Tart Cherry Raspberry and the Tart Cherry Cranberry.  Really I enjoy all of the fruit based line.  I’m not as big of a fan of the tea line, but I don’t really like iced tea to start with so that wasn’t really a surprise. They are super refreshing and not super sweet.  Also, for those of you that might not like the tart cherry juice, the flavor of these is much less intense, similar to other fruit juice drinks.

Would I buy it for myself? Absolutely.  I hope that my co-op starts carrying it soon so that I don’t have to order it on Amazon! I really like the Refresh line as an alternative to other juices when I am craving something fancier and more flavored than water. While I have seen other all natural fruit juices out there, I haven’t seen anything quite like these with the tart cherry juice.

I know a lot of people who want to try the Refresh line are having a hard time finding it in their area as well.  Well, you’re in luck –
