Restaurant Review: DLUX

Full Disclosure: I paid for this meal with my own money.  I am not being compensated for this post, and the opinions are completely my own.

A few weeks ago, my brother and his girlfriend were in town and we went out to lunch to celebrate my mom’s birthday.  Since we had all been wanting to go there for a while, we decided to go to DLUX, which is located downtown just off the Capital square.

When we arrived I was slightly surprised that it wasn’t super busy.  The Farmers Market was still going on, and it was a home football – those two factors usually spell disaster for not having lines at downtown restaurants.  We did also call ahead (they let you call 1 hour ahead to reserve a table) to make sure that our group of six would have a table.

Entree’s and sides are served separately there, so we decided we would each order an entree and get a couple of sides to share.  I ordered the chicken burger. It was kind of in between a grilled chicken breast and a ground chicken burger.  It tasted good – the bun was especially fresh tasting and delicious – but I didn’t love the texture of the burger.  I’m just not a huge fan of ground meat texture.

For our sides we got a large order of Sharp Cheddar and Green Onion Fries,

dluxchzfries

and an order of Blue Cheese and Bacon Fries.

All of the fries were pretty much gone by the end of the meal, but getting two  orders of fries to share with the table was definitely a smart decision.  The fries were really tasty, but there was a lot of them!  I liked both flavors of fries, but I think I liked the cheddar and green onion a bit more.  They kind of tasted like potato skins, which I love.

Taste: A-, even though I didn’t love my sandwich, the fries were pretty delicious.
Cost: A, not bad at all I didn’t think.  All of the burgers (chicken, portabello, or beef) are only $8.  Even though that doesn’t include a side, if you share a side among a few people, it isn’t that much more.

Would I go there again? Yeah I think so.  I don’t think I would get the chicken burger again, but there are several salads that looked pretty delicious and I would definitely eat those fries again.  I’m not a bloody mary fan, but they looked to have a stellar bloody mary bar, and pitchers of mimosas…

  1. I love their salmon sorta burger. I was skeptical at first to order it, but it was soo good. Also their parmesan truffle fries are tasty too! The fry orders are massive, Scott and I usually end up sharing the smallest size, and that even is too much!

    • Oh, good to know about the Salmon Burger! We almost got the parmesan truffle fries too, but we decided two giant baskets of fries was enough – we’ll have to try them next time!

  2. oh i’m so glad you posted the call ahead tip! we decided to go there with our parents this weekend, but i was nervous about a saturday evening dinner & how busy it might be. we’ll definitely call ahead!

    • Yeah, I was glad for the call ahead option too, all of those delicious downtown restaurants get so crazy busy!

  3. Eeeek, I LOVE DLUX! Their sweet potato fries are also fabulous and they are served with a spicy mayo that is very yummy :)
