Autumn is for Apples

Full Disclosure: Musselman’s sent me some free applesauce, a mug, and they are providing the giveaway prize for the winner.  I am not being compensated for this post and the opinions are completely my own.

Some people equate Autumn with all things pumpkin.  Pumpkin pie, pumpkin oatmeal, and the ever famous Pumpkin Spice Latte.  I am not a big pumpkin fan.  For me, Autumn is for apples. I’ll take apple pie over pumpkin any day, and I’d much rather have a mint latte than a PSL.  I also love that it is the season for fresh apples.  I haven’t been apple picking this year (yet?), but my parents went and picked some apples for me!  I feel like freshly picked apples are so much more flavorful than store bought, and I love that they are generally smaller which is perfect for a snack!

The main way that I eat apples throughout the year though, is in the form of applesauce.  I eat it as a snack quite often, and I actually like it room temperature usually so the individual packs are perfect for me to take to work with me and grab when I need something to eat.  Recently, my favorite applesauce brand, Musselman’s, introduced their new Big Cup.  We got a sneak preview of these in the Healthy Living Summit swag bags before they were even in stores and I was super psyched!

I think I ate one cup almost every day that I was in Minneapolis.  The Big Cup is 6oz, compared to most normal applesauce cups that are 4oz.  The larger size is perfect for an adult sized snack, or to eat as a portion of fruit with a meal.

After the Summit, the people at Musselman’s reached out to me to see if I wanted to try a couple of the other flavors in the Big Cup, and they sent me this cute “big cup” mug, too! I enjoy the unsweetened apple sauce the most, but I’m a fan of the original as well.  I’ve never been a huge cinnamon apple sauce fan, but I feel like it would be delicious to bake with! I have a couple of favorite bread and muffin recipes that use applesauce, so I will have to try using the cinnamon and see how it turns out!

Are you a fan of applesauce?  Well, you’re in luck! Musselman’s is giving away a prize pack (3 different flavored Big Cup packs!) to one lucky reader! Enter through the Rafflecopter widget below.  Entries are open through Wednesday October 9th, and I will pick a random winner on Thursday October 10th.  The winner will have 48 hours to respond to my email once I contact them.  If they do not respond in that amount of time, I will pick a new winner.  Good luck!

  1. String cheese, apples and almonds (not necessarily together) are my favorite quick snack and what I most typically have in my desk!

  2. I choose random snacks like yogurt bowls and granola as well as cheese and crackers usually

  3. My go-to snack is usually fruit. I’ve been craving pears and peaches lately, but apples and grapes are right up there, too.

  4. My go-to snack is usually grapes and cheese, but that’s because I’ve never seen unsweetened applesauce in individual containers like that at my grocery store! I would TOTALLY go for applesauce and cheese if I could get my hands on single-serving unsweetened applesauce! (In fact, I’ve done just that thanks to the HLS13 swag!!)

  5. I LOVE the big cups too! I keep applesauce in my desk drawer at work in case I need a snack. I’ve also got some Wild Harvest Animal Crackers in there right now. String cheese is a favorite too.

  6. Oriental Rice crackers. Hubby calls them “stinky chips” since he can’t stand the smell of them

  7. I absolutely love quick bars (like Luna bars) or things I can just grab. I’m a huge fan of applesauce, too! I have two cans of it right now. 🙂

  8. […] week I gave away a Musselman’s Big Cups prize pack. (love them!)  And I got a Stitchfix! (affiliate link) I kept TWO items this time, and I was […]
