Well, the Fall weather seems to be here to stay! Crispy cool mornings and sunny, slightly warm afternoons. I love it. Fall seems to always bee the best excuse to start knitting again. Yes, I knit some in the Summer, but most of the time I knit things that I want to wear (or gift to others to wear) and Summer isn’t exactly knitwear wearing weather.
The last couple of weeks has been filled with lots of knitting. Catching up on a bunch of gifts that I’ve been meaning to give, and making something for myself, too. Weekend mornings with a cup of coffee, football on the television (Badgers or Packers depending on the day) and a knitting project, is an ideal Fall morning as far as I’m concerned.
I thought I’d share with you some of my favorite Fall projects. Projects that are light enough for when the bright sun is shining, but warm enough for mornings that there is frost.
Orthogonal Cowl/Scarf by Lee Meredith
This project is super customizable, you can make it with pretty much any weight yarn or stitch pattern. I made mine on the lacier side, and with a fairly lightweight yarn. Warm enough to keep me a little cozier outside, but not too warm so I can wear it throughout the day without being hot indoors.
Scallop Lace Hat by Leah Coccari-Swift
This is a great lightweight, slouchy hat for Fall. Not to mention, it isn’t nearly as difficult to make as it looks! If I was stylish enough to wear this hat day to day, inside and outside, I would.
Gitana Hat by Leah Coccari Swift
LOVE this hat. It is slightly warmer that the Scallop Lace Hat, but still pretty lightweight. It is also pretty slouchy and cozy and I again wish I was stylish enough to wear it all of the time.

Volcano Cowl by Leah Coccari Swift
I’m currently working on this one. It is the perfect amount of difficulty for me to easily work on while watching television without being boring and monotonous. I’m hoping it’ll be another scarf that keeps me cozy outside, but is also not too warm to wear inside when I am working, too.
Stadium Blanket by Allyson Dykhuizen
I’ve wanted to make a blanket for a while now. I’m a little bit intimidated by the length of time a blanket would take to knit, (the baby blanket that I made took just about as long as my patience would allow.) but other than the length of time it would take, I don’t think it would be that difficult to make.
I’m also in love with the Melt Slouch Hat by Leah Coccari-Swift.

Yay knitting!! I am so a knitter! I currently finished the Snapdragon Tam and will be blocking it this weekend, and I’m going to be casting on a pair of Endpaper Mitts sometime this weekend!
Yay! That Snapdragon Tam looks super cute! Some day I will tackle cables, everyone tells me that they are not as difficult as they seem, but they are just so intimidating!
They really aren’t that bad! They are a little fiddly with a cable needle, but there is a technique where you can knit cables without a cable needle. I need to learn this because using a cable needle with this project was kind of a pain!
Fiddly is a good word to describe it. That is also how I would describe using double pointed needles. Just too much going on at once to keep track of!
speaking of the amount of time it takes to knit a blanket…WHY did i think it was a good idea to knit a giant blanket?!? i am ready to move on to another project, but i’m forcing myself to power through!
See, I think I would have to work on a blanket along with other projects so that when I get bored I can work on something else for a while!
Oh man, I knit a huge blanket last year and it took FOREVER. I had to force myself to knit 10 rows a day just to get it done. Yep, never again.
