Twosday {Television}

Current television comedies that I’ve been watching and loving:
1) New Girl.
2) Parks and Recreation.  Both of these shows are hilarious, and two of the funniest shows out there.  I highly recommend you watch them both if you don’t already.  Just try not to laugh.

Current television dramas that I’ve been watching and loving:
1) Homeland.  Now that Breaking Bad is over, this is probably my favorite drama currently on television.  Yes, some episodes are not quite as good as others, but many of the episodes are pretty amazing.
2) The Walking Dead. I will admit, I was not a huge fan of this show right from the beginning, but it is definitely growing on me.  Yes, there are characters that drive me crazy, but it is pretty interesting and entertaining show.

Old television shows that I’ve been watching and loving:
1) The West Wing.  Yes, still.  I just started season 7, and am still really love it even though the later seasons are definitely different than the first few.
2) Scrubs. I just started running on a treadmill since I am training for a 10k in January (groan.) and I need something to entertain me that isn’t super long or that I need to pay attention to, so I started re-watching Scrubs on Netflix.  I haven’t watched it in a while, but it used to be one of the funniest shows on television.

Television shows that are on my to-watch from the beginning list:
1) The Good Wife.  Many, many, people have suggested that I would like this this series, and its been on my list for a while.
2) Dexter.  This has been on our list for a while, and it just recently announced that it is coming to Netflix streaming! Hooray!

This is obviously not an exhaustive list of everything that I am watching right now.  There is also The Voice,  How I Met Your Mother, Modern Family, etc. I do love my television time, thank goodness for the DVR and fast forwarding through commercials. 🙂

I’d love to know what some of your favorites are! (Spoiler free of course!) Has anyone watched The Good Wife, or Dexter?

  1. I love Homeland but agree the first few episodes were pretty slow…however last Sundays was pretty good!

  2. New Girl is my favorite but Parenthood is high on my list too (it’s on Netflix too, you should watch it). Homeland has been frustrating me a little this season, but overall I like it. & yep, I’ve seen all of Dexter.

    • Yes, I’ve heard great things about Parenthood, too. I need to add that to my list.

The first few episodes of Homeland this season were definitely frustrating, but I think its back on track after last week!

  3. LOVE Good Wife! My only ‘beef” with this show is it’s time slot. It never starts on time since it’s on after the football games and then The Amazing Race on Sunday nights. And it goes up against another of my favorites – Revenge. So this year we watch Revenge on Sundays and then later in the week watch Good Wife.

  4. New Girl is one of my absolute favorites and one of the shows I immediately watch once it’s on the DVR. Big Bang Theory is another like that, as well as The Walking Dead and American Horror Story: Coven. I have a few others too, but that’s all I can think of off the top of my head!

    • I’ve heard good things about both of those others as well. Although, I think Walking Dead is about as “horror” I can handle. Not sure I could deal with an actually scary television show!

  5. OH MY WORD I LOVE THIS POST.
Twosday + Television = my dream? maybe. probably. certainly. 😉

New Girl is on my “start from the beginning” list, and so is The Good Wife! So far I’ve watched the pilot (it’s on Hulu+ now!!) but know I want to wait for a bit to finish up some other shows I’m in the middle of before starting full force – maybe we chould start it/watch it together!?

I also want to watch Dexter. Breaking Bad is on my “to-watch from the beginning” list, too. (as you know, my list is VERY loing.) And Nick told me this past weekend that he would like to give The Walking Dead a try. I’m not sure how I will feel about that one, but with all the goodness my favorite critics have to say about it, I may as well give it a try.

I AGREE with you on TWW. The later seasons are COMPLETELY different than the early ones but they are still awesome. They are just different awesome.

And Scrubs is another show we watch a few times a week on Netflix. We just started season 4. Love it.

    • Yes, I need to finish up other shows first too, but we should definitely watch The Good Wife!

So, I did not love Walking Dead at first. It definitely has its good episodes, and kind of almost boring episodes. BUT the good ones are worth watching. So if you do give it a try, give it a couple of episodes to decide if you like it or not. It is much more Spencer’s show than mine, but I’ve grown to like it too.

Oh, you are at the sweet spot with Scrubs! It is a really good show, but the last couple of seasons are not nearly as good as the rest of the series, characters leave, things change, almost like how the last couple of seasons of Dawson’s Creek are so different.

  6. I can’t get enough of Scandal!!! If you like Homeland, I think you would like Scandal. I also love New girl 🙂

  7. I’m totally seconding Scandal. I have also been watching The Good Wife from the beginning on Amazon Prime. I’m actually watching an episode from Season 2 right now. So far I’m liking it and there are several actors that I’ve seen in more current TV shows too.

  8. We seem to be very similar on TV… Love Parks & Rec, watching The West Wing on Netflix, want to start The Good Wife soon.

  9. I just finished Season 2 of New Girl and the entire Scrubs series recently. I love Netflix!

    • Gosh, I love New Girl! I love the first bunch of seasons of Scrubs, but once a bunch of the characters leave it just isn’t the same for those last couple of seasons!
