Twosday {Happiness}

Holidays in the near future that I am looking forward to:
1) My Birthday!! I don’t really have big plans or anything, but I’m hoping at least to make time for a nice, fancy, dinner to celebrate.
2) Christmas!!  My favorite holiday.  I’m still in a bit of denial that it is so soon, but I really do love it and all of the holiday cheer that surrounds it.

Recipes I have plans to make and eat in the near future:
1) 5 Step Chili for How Sweet Eats.  AKA: The easiest chili ever.  Chili seems to go great with cold air and football watching on the weekends.
2) Butternut Squash Macaroni and Cheese from Then Heather Said.  I love this fall dish, and I need to be making it more.  (It makes for great leftovers, too!)

Happiness Highlights of the past few weeks (a la Bliss and Balance):
1) A fun party in Chicago last weekend.
2) People signing up for non-food monthly boxes using my referral links after I posted about them. A huge THANK YOU to anyone that did, it totally made my day! (top 5 food subscription boxes coming soon!)

Next up to watch on Netflix now that I’ve finished The West Wing:
1) The Good Wife.
2) Grey’s Anatomy….but I kind of feel like I should wait until the series is over so that I can just watch them all without getting to whatever season is current.  Thoughts? I know I have lots of friends that are Grey’s fans, and I know the series has changed over the years, but I feel like it is such a part of pop culture that I need to watch it at some point.

Random things I’ve watched on Netflix that were interesting and enjoyable:
1) Secrets of the Secret Service – It is basically what it seems; a documentary about tactics, techniques, and tools used by the secret service. It is really interesting because it covers older security issues and modern issues, as well as how things have changed throughout the years.
2) Fame High – A documentary about students of the Los Angeles County High School For the Arts.  This isn’t like a movie version of Glee, it is a real documentary about real kids with big hopes and dreams.  (also, one of the girls that it follows happens to be originally from Baraboo, WI.)

  1. grey’s anatomy <– just do it now! there are already like 9 seasons (all available on amazon prime on ps3/xbox except for the last one, which i watched on hulu when i was re-watching them this summer…). the earliest seasons are BY FAR the best, but i'm one of those people who can't give up on a show, so i still watch every week.

    anyway, DO IT.

  2. Definitely start greys!!! I remember when I was in college and my roommates all watched it (before I ever started it)…I watched one episode and was hooked!

    • I feel like I’m going to be the same way. But it is hard to commit myself to a show that already has SO many seasons, and more to come I’m sure!

  3. Oooo I’ve been in need for Netflix suggestions. I’ll have to check those out. Ever since I finished The Tudors, I’ve had nothing to watch!

    • Other places that I’ve often found good Netflix suggestions are in Heather’s Twosday posts, if you are looking for more ideas!

  4. Those documentaries sound interesting! I like the selection of documentaries they have. Right now I’m trudging my way through Supernatural. A friend of mine is obsessed (as it seems is Pinterest) so I started with Season 1 and am up to 6 now (I think?). I’ve been DVR’ing the current season so that once I’m caught up on Netflix I can watch it up-to-date. It’s not my favorite ever, but I like a couple of the characters enough to keep watching. LOL

    • Thats a good idea to watch the older seasons on Netflix, but then DVR the current season so that when you catch up you won’t miss anything!

  5. I can’t wait to watch the Secret Service documentary. Thanks for the suggestion!

  6. […] mentioned in a post a couple of weeks ago that Chili is one of our cool weather staple meals.  I learned to love chili by using the Easy 5 […]
