Happy 2014, friends!
Instead of the typical year end/beginning post of things that were awesome about 2013 and what I’m looking forward to in 2014, I thought I’d share some in Twosday form.
Food
1) I ate some delicious food in 2013. (And I don’t just mean cupcakes 😉 ) Though I still definitely think I am the pickiest person that I know, I think I made some pretty good improvements in 2013. Or at least I am more conscious of when I am eating poorly and try to improve on what I am eating when that happens.
2) I can’t wait to see what new things I can try in 2014! On my list for this year: Graze (yes, somehow I still haven’t made it there!), food trucks in NYC, and many more home cooked meals!
Wellness
1) I ran more races in 2013 than I ever ran in my life AND I ran the farthest I ever have at one time. And even though neither number is huge…err….or even double digits…running is still is something that I can’t believe my body allows me to do. I’m still nervous before every race (no matter how far) and I still don’t love running, but I’m proud of having run multiple races, and been able to run with friends.
2) Monthly massages. I do love them…but there have definitely been months that I have considered stopping. Is a massage really what I need to be spending $59 on every month? Do I even have time for an hour of doing nothing?! Yes, it is. Yes, I do. I really think it is beneficial not only for my body, but that break from everything does wonders for my mind too.
Monthly Box Subscriptions
1) I already wrote two whole posts about my favorite box subscriptions (here and here) plus a few others that I mentioned in specific posts. If it isn’t already clear: I love monthly boxes. My overall favorites of 2013 were definitely PopSugar and Stitchfix.
2) Yes, there are in fact MORE Subscription boxes out there that I didn’t try in 2013. I got two for Christmas that I am super excited about getting this year: Studio Calico (affiliate link) (Project Life Edition) and the Fab Fit Fun VIP box! I loved both of the boxes from these companies that I got for Christmas and I am super excited to add them to the lineup for 2014!
Travel
1) 2013 took me to Minneapolis, which I hadn’t been in many years, even though it is only a few hours north. It also included visits to New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Milwaukee, and northern Wisconsin.
2) I don’t have plans to travel anywhere completely new in 2014, but I am headed back to Orlando (its been a few years) as well as New York, Las Vegas, and of course Chicago and various places in Wisconsin.
Blogging Conferences
1) I attended the Healthy Living Summit for the fourth time in 2013, and I also attended BlogHer! They were both so much fun in different ways. I think I’m finally comfortable calling myself a blogger and talking about my blog (and blogging) with anyone and everyone. I have had so many great experiences thanks to blogging, and met so many great people.
2) The only blogging conference I have plans to attend in 2014 is HLS, which is going to be here in Madison!! I cannot wait to show all of my fellow bloggers and friends how awesome my city is.
2104 Goals
1) Live each day. Sometimes I find myself feeling anxious about things in the future, or focusing on things in the past instead of living in the present. I really want to focus on living the day as it is and not getting caught up in what was or what could be.
2) Freggies. Fruit and vegetables are my friends. I actually like them a lot, but sometimes when they don’t seem like the most delicious option I skip over them and chose something probably less than ideal for my body. I want to make them a more regular part of my diet, instead of just when I feel like I need them because I haven’t had any in a while, and I know I’ll feel consistently better if I do.
What are your plans for 2014?!
Any excited places you are planning to visit, or goals you have??
