Things I’m Loving {April 2014}

This post is inspired by Jessica over at How Sweet It Is. Every so often she posts about her favorite things. Day to day, she blogs mainly about (delicious) food and recipes, but these posts often include many other categories of things – music, places, makeup, etc.  I love that she mixes it up every once in a while and puts together these posts, so I thought I would give it a try too. I’m hoping to continue to do them monthly, but we will see where it goes.

Please note:  I know very little about fashion and beauty, and by no means call myself an expert on any of these topics, especially in the fashion and makeup realm.  These are just some of my favorites that I wanted to blog about them to spread the love.

Nail Polish - Julep Love.  I’m not a huge gold fan, but I love this polish.  It is just so bright and the specs add a little bit of interest and fun so its not like I’m wearing bright gold fingernail polish. It also wears very well.  It took longer than usual for it to chip or peel or anything. Maybe that is because of the lighter color?

Make Up – Benefit It’s Potent eye cream.  This is the one and only beauty product that I use (pretty much) each and every day.  I love that it takes about 3 seconds to throw it on my face and at least feel like I’m doing something about the dark circles under my eyes, even if I don’t put on any other makeup.  Even if it isn’t actually doing its job and fading those dark circles, it sure feels like it is doing something and I feel better about how I look when I wake up feeling tired.

Clothing – Maxi skirts! I only currently have two (since they are super hard to find in a long enough length for tall people) but I love them for this weather.  When it is cooler I wear leggings underneath, and when it is a little warmer they are still warm enough for air conditioning but airy enough for warm sunshine.

Food - Pineapple! I’m loving pineapple in stir fries, fresh pineapple, pineapple flavored beverages, and pineapple in smoothies.  It just seems so fresh and summery.  Maybe if I eat it more often, the weather will warm up faster?

Beverage - ICED coffee! The weather is finally warm enough (most days) to drink cold coffee.  Not that I don’t like lattes, I clearly do, but plain, black, iced coffee just screams summer and warmer weather for me.

Music - I haven’t been into a particular genre, or album, this month.  Some new favorites are: Dare You to Move – Megan Hilty, Burn With You – Lea Michele, Cough Syrup – Glee Cast.

TV - Grey’s Anatomy.  A few months ago I started watching from the beginning, and now I’m caught up to the current episodes! I didn’t start watching this show for a long time because I knew I would like it, and I didn’t want to add another current show to my DVR.  But, now Im all caught up and so excited to be able to discuss it with people, and not have to cover my eyes and ears when a commercial comes on and I can’t find my remote to change the channel.

Movie – Hmmm….I guess I didn’t watch very many movies in April? We watched Anchorman 2 when it was in theaters and recently just re-watched the extended cut on DVD. I don’t know that it was better than the first one, but it was still a pretty entertaining movie. We also watched The Way Way Back which was kind of slow in parts put also pretty good!

Mindless Entertainment – Timehop! This was one of my favorite apps on my iPhone, and it is now finally on Android, too.  Each day Timehop shows you what you were doing on that day in years past.  It is fun to look and see what you were doing, what the weather was, etc.

What are YOU Loving these days?

  1. I have a massive weakness for iced coffee. And I’ve never understood why cold-pressed tastes so much better??

    • Agree!! Also, apparently I spoke too soon on the warm weather since this week is supposed to be cool and rainy :(

  2. I can eat a pineapple every week! Yum! Berries have been very good, too.

  3. Yes, berries are awesome, too! I can’t wait until Summer and fresh berries are more readily available!!
