Restaurant Review: Francesca’s Al Lago

Full Disclosure: I paid for this meal with me own money.  I am not being compensated for this post and the opinions are completely my own.

A couple of weeks ago for Mother’s Day, we met up with my family for Lunch.  We actually went on the Saturday before so that we could avoid the crazy brunch rushes that holidays can bring – especially at downtown restaurants.  The six of us decided to head to Francesca’s Al Lago.

The menu there is pretty diverse. I would classify Francesca’s as an Italian restaurant, but it isn’t all pasta. There is some pasta on the menu, but there are a variety of other Italian inspired dishes as well.  Sandwiches, seafood, salads, pizza, and more.

The meal started with bread, of course.

For my meal I had the Salmon Alla Fresca – grilled salmon with tomato, avocado, red onions, olive oil, basil, and lemon over grilled asparagus. I actually got it without the avocado and red onions because I am not a fan of those things. Since I got it without some of the items, I think they over did it a bit on the tomatoes to make up for it, so I got a ton of tomatoes with my salmon, which was fine but way more than I’d ever eat. The salmon itself was tasty.  It had a bit of crispiness and a really delicious flavor.  The asparagus was perfectly cooked and delicious as well.

The husband had the Davanti Burger – char prime burger, roasted tomatoes, crispy mozzarella, arugula, bacon jam, and roasted garlic aoli on a brioche bun.  It was a really interesting and unique burger, and he really enjoyed it.

Overall the food was good, and everyone enjoyed their meals.  The service was kind of slow, and I’m not sure why since it wasn’t very busy.  The waitstaff weren’t bad or anything, I think maybe they just have a relaxed attitude towards things and figure that people want to just hang out and enjoy their food and drinks rather than being rushed through everything. It was fine for us since we had nowhere to be, but it may not be the place to go if you wanted to be in and out quickly.

Taste: A, good solid meal.
Cost: A, I don’t remember exactly how much it was, but I don’t remember it being particularly expensive – especially considering the quality of the food.

Would I go there again? Yeah I think so.  There were a few other things that I’d try on the menu.  Also, it would be a good place to go with a group since there are several different types of food to choose from on the menu.
