Restaurant Review: Tom’s Tavern & 1929 Grill

Full Disclosure: I paid for this meal with my own money and am not being compensated for this post in any way.  The opinions are completely my own.

For my last meal in Phoenix, I headed to Tom’s Tavern & 1929 Grill with some co-workers.  It was a bit of a walk from the hotel, but it seemed like an interesting, local, place, so we decided to go for it.  Downtown Phoenix isn’t exactly filled with local dining options within walking distance, so we didn’t have very much to choose from.

The place was about what I was expecting, a local bar and grill type restaurant.  The restaurant has been around for a long time and had been recently remodeled so there was lots of memorabilia and historical things on the walls which is always fun to see.

For my meal…well, if you could call it a meal.  I had had a pretty large lunch, so I wasn’t in the mood for a “real” dinner, so I just hodgepodged a couple of sides together for my dinner.  I got the tavern pretzels with cheese and and a side garden salad.  Yeah, not exactly the most balanced meal, but it was exactly what I was craving.

It filled me up, too!  The salad was nothing spectacular, but it was crispy and fresh.  The pretzel bread was pretty amazing.  It was warm and soft and had that salty crispy outside.  So good.

Taste: A+, really tasty.
Cost: A, I don’t remember exactly how much my meal was but I don’t remember it being particularly expensive.

Would I go there again? Yeah I think so.  That pretzel bread would be delicious as an appetizer!
