Restaurant Review: Haymarket Pub and Brewery

Full Disclosure: I paid for this meal with my own money and am not being compensated for this post.  As always, all of the opinions are my own.

Last weekend I was in Chicago and, as usual, it was part for work and part for fun.  My parents actually came down that weekend as well, and since it was close to my brother’s birthday we celebrated that while everyone was there. (My brother lives in Chicago)  So, to celebrate his birthday, we went out to dinner at Haymarket Pub and Brewery.

Haymarket looks and feels just like what you’d imagine a local pub and brewery would.  They brew a wide variety of beers, and have decent sized menu.  There isn’t a whole lot on the menu for the vegetarian crowd, but there are lots of different options for carnivores. I went with the Grilled Chicken Breast sandwich which comes on tomato focaccia bread, and I added mozzarella cheese.  It was delicious.  Moist and fresh, and the tomato focaccia added a little something different to my usual boring choice.  It also came with fries, which were pretty good, but I think I kind of got the bottom of the barrel because there were lots of little fry pieces.

While the restaurant was a little loud for a good conversation – and probably would be too loud of my grandparents were there, or if the group was large than 5 – it was just part of the bar and grill type atmosphere that I expected, and it was a Saturday night.

Taste: A+, delicious.
Cost: A, I didn’t think it was all that bad considering the quality of the food.

Would I go there again?  Its hard for me to say if I would go to any Chicago restaurant more than once, just because there are so many options to choose from, but that sandwich was delicious and I wouldn’t mind eating it again.

  1. This definitely makes me want to visit Chicago and try this sandwich! I’m also somewhat of a picky eater, but I love seeing your ratings and applying it to myself.
